# Grok Bot

## Definition

Grok Bot is SpaceXAI's persistent agent product for delegating work across applications. Users message named Bots, which retain context, use a cloud computer, and can coordinate with other Bots. Tasks can continue while the user's laptop is closed.

The provider's October 7 product FAQ clarifies that a user's Bots share one persistent computer, including files, browser state, and logins. Isolation is per user, not per Bot. Creating another specialist therefore does not create a separate security boundary.

## Origin and attribution

The company introduced Grok Bot on August 11, 2026, describing an internal prototype used for sales, operations, and engineering before public release. Credit belongs to the product team; the announcement does not establish a sole inventor.

The product is distributed through Grok and Cursor plans. Grok Bot names the application; the Grok family and a model version identify the models used during its work.

## Routines, coordination, and templates

A Bot can observe a user performing a workflow, save it as a routine, and use corrections in later runs. Multiple Bots can communicate in shared threads or group chats and divide responsibilities. These are runtime arrangements, not evidence that the underlying model weights change whenever a preference is remembered.

Matt Palmer's September 8 template guide describes packages containing instructions, selected memories, skills, and plugins. A template creates a new Bot from that material. It omits parts of the original environment, including custom scripts; non-standard integrations may need separate setup. Review which memories and integrations a template includes before sharing or installing it.

## Privacy, permissions, and limits

The current overview documents encryption in transit and at rest, training opt-out, and enterprise network and data-loss controls. It says sensitive actions can pass through Auto Review. That wording does not establish that every deployment reviews every write action, or that a Bot is unable to perform any sensitive action without a fresh human approval.

Account access and shared browser sessions affect every Bot using the same machine. A specialist's narrow job description does not, by itself, prove that its tools or credentials have equally narrow access. Check the actual configuration and action history when evaluating a handoff.

Remembered routines can preserve errors as well as useful procedures. Test a learned routine with changed inputs and failed sign-ins. Check how it handles external effects that need approval. The product's promise of finishing work needs evaluation on a specified workflow.

## Distinguish it from nearby terms

- Grok identifies a model family and assistant brand. Grok Bot names a persistent agent application.
- A multi-agent system coordinates several agents. Separate Bot personas can participate while sharing an execution environment.
- Agent memory and routines preserve state or procedures; they do not establish new model training or permission grants.
- Muse and dots provide comparable ongoing-agent experiences, with their own documented isolation and review boundaries.

## Check your understanding

Two Bots handle customer support and finance on the same cloud computer. What would you inspect before assuming the support Bot cannot access finance files or act through the finance browser session?
