In LinearB's lowest-performing organizations, AI review raised the 30-day merge rate for agentic pull requests from 79% to 86%. Only 8% of pull requests in that group received an AI review.

## 1. AI review raised agentic pull-request merge rates from 79% to 86% in LinearB's bottom band

The article pairs LinearB's 2026 mid-year benchmark data with interviews from engineering leaders at HumanLayer, Warp, AWS, and Asana. Across 2.7 million pull requests and 253 organizations, 37% of agentic PRs in the weakest organizations merged within 30 days. The rate for all PRs in those organizations was 81%.

AI review raised the bottom band's agentic PR merge rate from 79% to 86%. Yet only 8% of pull requests in that group received an AI review, compared with 57% at the top. Dex Horthy of HumanLayer stated the ownership requirement directly: "Every PR needs a human owner. This is non-negotiable."

AWS's Darko Mesaroš described how his team's Kiro Crew repository handles review. About 27,000 tests and four AI reviewers gate every change, and a human approves each of the roughly 66 PRs merged per day.

**Why it matters:** The organizations struggling most to merge agentic work also use AI review least. Teams with stalled agentic PRs should examine review ownership and capacity before changing the model that writes them.
